Big parts of my life have not been intentional. They just kind of happened.
I'm changing that. As of now.
I’ve been working as a professional since September 1975. That first job was not really intentional. I kind of wandered into it.
Well, at some point I will retire.
Check that. Not "at some point," but on March 1, 2024. That's the day that I have chosen. That's the day I'm planning around.
Rather than wander into retirement, I’m going into retirement intentionally. I don’t recall that I’ve *ever* planned this far in advance. And I am now planning what I will *do* with my time as a person without an employment obligation Monday through Friday for 48 out of 52 weeks each year. I am planning what I will do.
I’m also planning for my death. I’ve been inspired by the book Dying to Know by Andrew Anastasios.
So, retirement and death: that’s what is in front of me. I’m planning for those.
